The One About Building a Marketing System That Actually Works with Lindsay Pinchuk

You don't need a bigger team.

You don't need a bigger budget.

You don't need to go viral.

That's the thing I keep coming back to after this conversation with Lindsay Pinchuk, an award-winning entrepreneur who bootstrapped her first company, Bump Club and Beyond, from $500 into a 7-figure brand working with names like Target, Nordstrom, and Unilever before successfully exiting the business. She's now the founder of Dear FoundHer, a podcast and community built for women business owners over 40, and she's spent years teaching other entrepreneurs how to grow without burning themselves out chasing every trend.

The SWEEP Framework

Lindsay's whole philosophy comes down to an acronym she coined after stepping back and asking herself what actually worked in her first business: SWEEP. Social media, website, emails, events, partnerships, publicity. The idea isn't to create new content constantly, it's to take one piece of content and sweep it across as many of those channels as you can.

She used the example of a blog post. Write it once, and suddenly you've got Instagram carousel copy, an email, talking points for an event, and material for word-of-mouth publicity, all from that one post. As a photographer, I felt that one deeply. I already blog my senior sessions. I just hadn't thought about how far one post could actually stretch.

Partnerships Aren't Just Brand Deals

I loved how Lindsay redefined "partnerships." It's not just landing a sponsorship. It's finding complementary businesses - a hair salon, a color consultant, another photographer - who share your audience, and sharing each other's communities. And honestly? Your happy clients are partners too. If they love their session, they're going to talk about it, and that's publicity you didn't have to pay for.

Show Up As You Are

This is the part that stuck with me the most. Lindsay talked about a recent photo shoot where she made sure to get photos of herself in her go-to sweatshirt and jeans, not just the polished, camera-ready shots. Because those are the images that actually feel like her and those are the ones her audience connects with.

The big takeaway: People aren't looking for polished. They're looking for real.

We also got into why chasing trends doesn't actually grow your bottom line, two tips for getting comfortable on camera even if the thought makes you want to hide, and why Lindsay believes women over 40 have a genuine advantage in business right now (spoiler: two decades of life experience counts for a lot).

Lindsay also shared what led her to start writing The FoundHer Files on Substack, and she's giving Shutter Squad listeners three months free of the premium version — you'll find that link below.

Happy listening,
Kate
